Indian Rice Export Prices Hit One-Year High

Indian rice export prices have climbed to their highest level in more than a year as concerns over lower production grow because of below-average rainfall, according to Reuters.

India’s 5% broken parboiled rice was quoted at $375–$381 per metric tonne this week, up from $371–$377 the previous week. The price is at its highest level since July 2025. Indian 5% broken white rice was quoted at $372–$377 per tonne.

Traders said rising paddy prices in the domestic market are pushing export prices higher as market participants expect a decline in rice production.

India’s rice production is expected to fall this year for the first time in a decade and record its sharpest decline in nearly two decades, as below-normal rainfall during the crop’s maturation period threatens yields.

The production concerns have contributed to higher domestic rice prices and increased export offers. However, India’s large rice reserves could provide a buffer against the expected decline in production and support continued exports.

Rice prices in other major Asian exporting countries also remained under observation as buyers assessed supply prospects and changing global market conditions.
